NEW DELHI - Entrepreneur and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's wife, Gauri Khan, who has co-designed the spring-summer 2016 collection for Satya Paul, on Friday presented her latest collection "Cocktails and Dreams". The range, the final edition of the three collections co-created by Gauri to celebrate the brand's 30th anniversary in the fashion industry and was presented at the DLF Promenade Mall here,
offers modern, relaxed silhouettes and dreamy drapes with stylised elements for evening. The prints in the collection reflect colour gradients and accents associated with urban cocktail concepts, such as crystalised ice structures and their texture, in a tryst of classic and electric colours.
Talking about Cocktails and Dreams collection, Gauri told media here: "The collection is my third collection with Satya Paul...When we design the collection the first thing we keep in mind is what occasion this particular sari is we are designing for. This collection is more evening wear and keeping that in mind the colours are very vibrant loads of reds, yellows and brighter tones."
The colour palette used for the collection ranged from pastels, yellows to fiery cherry reds. Fabrics like satin and georgette remains essential to the collection with the addition of flat silks. A variety of embellishment techniques of laser cutting and foiling, with lace, dori and resham embroidery are skillfully woven into the fabrics.
Asked where she drives her inspiration for designing, Gauri said: "I think inspiration is around you like when I travel to any country or even walking the streets...The inspiration for designs could be anywhere...I am inspired by architecture and surroundings..."
The collection also includes a modern range of scarves, ties, pocket squares, bags and clutches. This season, Satya Paul has reinvented its accessories with a larger collection of metallic clutches, printed totes, slouchy slings, messenger, and oversized bags.
Genesis Colors COO Nikhil Mehra, who is "excited" over the third collection, hopes to collaborate more with Gauri.
"I am excited. It is a great product. It is good for the consumers...Life is all about collaborating again and again...Just because you have done it once doesn't mean you will never do it again," Mehra told IANS. DLF Promenade senior vice president and mall head Dinaz Madhukar said the mall is "excited" to host Gauri. "I am sure her new collection 'Cocktails and Dreams' in collaboration with the brand will be well received by our patrons," Madhukar added.
