MUMBAI - Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, known for Bollywood entertainers like "Munna Bhai MBBS", "Lage Raho Munna Bhai", has nothing against those who make remakes but says he will make original films till his mind is functioning well. "I think many people make remakes. I have not seen any remakes in the recent past. I think many like to recycle the old stories, but I don't have anything against people who make remakes.
"I feel I will make original films as long as I can. Till my mind is functioning, I will make original films as the joy is greater with these films," Hirani told reporters while presenting the film "Anand" at the 16th Mumbai Film Festival.
Hirani Friday presented Hrishikesh Mukherjee's "Anand" at the gala, and says he loves the filmmaker's works as well as those of Gulzar, who wrote the movie.
"I grew up watching Hrishikesh Mukherjee's films. I think I was in primary when I watched 'Anand'. It just caught my attention... the way the film was written. I am a big fan of Gulzar and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. I just love them.
"I liked the performance of each and every character in the film -- be it Amitabh Bachchan or Rajesh Khanna, everyone was so good. 'Anand' inspired me to make films," he said.
