NORWALK, Ca - Over 400 people stepped away from their busy schedule to be present at the Diwali event organized by the Indian Association of Southern California (IASC) on October 16 at the Sanatan Dharma Mandir auditorium here. in support of the Indian Army and to condemn the killing of 17 Indian soldiers at Uri on September 18. Sunil Tolani in his welcome speech wished all present a Happy Diwali and prosperous new year and also expressed the importance of unity in the community and nurturing the young generation. He said, IASC is the only organization which puts India and youth first in all their activities.
Founder of IASC .Kamini Khare, introduced the committee members:Atul Makwana, Charu Shivakumar, Dipal Makwana, Nila Parikh, Anjana Patel, Chitralekha Pasi, Sanjay Dighe, Ranjith Vishwanath, Ravi Vishwanath, Dimple Mehta, Dilpreet and Sushila Parikh. Khare thanked longtime patrons of the association , Avadesh Agarwal, Dr Krishna Reddy, Suresh &Nalini Bhatti, Sunil Tolani and the State Bank of India,
Invited guests Dr. Nehru, Kamlesh Chauhan, Ramesh Mahajan, and Artesia Pro Tem Mayor Ali Sajjad Taj appreciated the social and cultural activities of IASC and wished everyone a Happy Diwali.
A one minute silence was observed to honor the slain soldiers, and a full salute was given by all to the Army jawans.
A spectacular evening of entertainment began with offerings to Lord Rama and a prayer dance to Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi .Slokas were recited, the conch was blown ,flowers were offered and the stage was all set for the cultural show.
The cultural program provided a variety from various parts of India covering classical, semi classical, fusion, Bollywood so everyone had something they could relate to and enjoy.
Sabari Girish came on the stage accompanied by Keerthana and Shivani to entertain the guest with their soulful singing. Later, Advika, Aishi, Annika rocked the stage to live singing by Sabari. The audience applauded and cheered after every song, and even danced to a few of their hits.
Tolani distributed certificates to all participants. Mani provided the excellent DJ services. Atul Makwana thanked every one for coming and participating and ended by saying he would see all again at the next program in 2017. Sam Goswami of Highglow Jewelers, Ravjibhai Patel, Dr. Aarti Shah, ISKCON, Nanak Food and Munish Makkar of RasBhog lend their support to the festivities
