SANTA MONICA, CA – TiE-SoCal launched its TiE SoCal Angels 2019 initiative with a successful and well attended meet at the Expert Dojo’s offices here on March 27, evening. The event was divided into two sessions. The first session was an invitation only session for TiE SoCal charter member investors, and well known investors and VC firms from San-Diego, Orange County, Glendale and Santa Monica.
It hosted pitches from pre-screened post seed funded startups. The event was chaired by TiE SoCal Angels Chair Shankar Ram and President Smita Bagla. The pitches from the six startup companies were well received and resulting in raising capital of $275K plus from CM angel investors and $250K+ from invited partner investors. Many partner investors showed interest in becoming part of TiE SoCal CM investment group.

MktStar specializing in prediction games, CEO John Vitti; OOTify presented an engaging and mental health community, CEO Ravi Sharma; MeetCaregivers providing solution for senior home health, CEO Florence Furaha; EVGateway presented a secure EV charging station management network, CEO Reddy; Fischer Imaging presented a medical device solution for better mammograms, CEO Shabbir Bambot; SmartPlate (Fitly) presented a physical smart plate for eating right, CEO Anthony Ortiz; Assemble provided a solution for task management and engagement for creatives CEO Nate Watkin. After dinner, the second session hosted a TiE Knowledge Series forum focused on ‘Creating a Vision Statement for the Company’’ and managed pitches from five companies selected from a list of 35 companies. This session was kicked off by Anshuman Sinha, Executive Director and President Elect and TiE Knowledge Series session was led by Brian Frankel, Marketing Director.
The pitching included pitches for funding by two film companies, two technology and one medical company. Movies were ‘Simone and Alex’ by Raeshib Agerwhil and ‘The Tenant’ by Sushrut Jain. Other pitches were by Vinay Kathuria for Muzaic; Danielle Carter for VidDrop and Kira Volpi for TummyCare
