Irrespective of color, race, creed and religion, all participants got colored in one color, the color of humanity, which has no color on its own,
but displayed itself in myriad of colors. Youth enjoyed the celebrations the most, patiently waiting to get in. The atmosphere was vivid, lively and pulsating. People were all colored in all the possible colors imaginable. Some were doing yoga, others were dancing to the tunes of devotional songs. One word that could explain the mood was ‘love’, with participants indulging in unadulterated fun. The stalls selling books, vegetarian food and colors did brisk business
Charu Das, Coordinator of the event and President of Krishna Temple, Salt Lake City, while talking to IJ, said these celebrations meant transformation. “We are not created on our own or by accident, but created by God with a purpose. The purpose is to love Him and other living beings and Holi focuses on loving God and His people,” he said.
Roshan Khandpur, one of the organizers, said Holi celebrations started in 1989 from Salt Lake City, Utah and this is the second year in a row in Southern California. Khandpur said all colors used here were purely organic and FDA approved.
