BEVERLY HILLS, CA - Premier South Asian television show, ‘Showbiz India TV’ celebrated its 16 years in the entertainment industry by hosting a ‘Sweet 16’ Anniversary event on Nov. 15 here at Indian fusion restaurant, Spice Affair. A red carpet was conducted to honor ‘Women Empowerment and Influential Leaders’.
BEVERLY HILLS, CA - Premier South Asian television show, ‘Showbiz India TV’ celebrated its 16 years in the entertainment industry by hosting a ‘Sweet 16’ Anniversary event on Nov. 15 here at Indian fusion restaurant, Spice Affair. A red carpet was conducted to honor ‘Women Empowerment and Influential Leaders’.
An introductory video showcasing the achievements and journey of the show was followed by a fashion show. ‘Officially Couture by Maneka’, which specializes in formal Indian bridal and ethnic Indian attire and movie star Kimmi Verma’s designer wear which specializes in exceptional party and event dresses with Indian flavor were showcased.
The entire star cast of the upcoming movie ‘Miss India America’ including Writer/ Director Ravi Kapoor shared their experiences on the occasion and a preview of the movie was shown. Host and creator of the show, Reshma Dordi, on the occasion said she started this show16 year ago when just a teenager. She said each moment of this journey was beautiful and worth celebrating. Regarding the theme for the anniversary celebrations, ‘Women empowerment and leadership’ she said as a woman and a mother, she was deeply disturbed by the atrocities against women all over the world, specially in India. She added it was a privilege to celebrate the beauty of women and one’s duty to protect it.
Guest of honor, Annet Mahendru, an Afghan-born Russian–Indian actress best known for her role as Nina Sergeevna Krylova on the FX TV series ‘The Americans’, congratulated Showbiz India and said ‘Mom’ was her first and most favorite word. Mahendru said, “We are never too late or never too old to be who we are as women”. She was presented the Showbiz India Emerging Leadership Award by Tami Lumbatis of Etihad Airlines, headlining sponsor of the event.
Honored guest, music director and singer Bhappi Lahiri said Showbiz India had done amazing work and wished the show good luck for the future. He sang two songs ‘Tune Maari Entry Yar’ and ‘Dil Mein Hai Tu’ on popular demand of the audience.
Bollywood movie star Harman Baweja who is visiting North America to promote his 3D animation movie on Sikh history, ‘Char Sahibzade’ said Showbiz had been an ambassador for the Indian movie industry and wished the show continued success in providing entertainment to Bollywood lovers for many decades more. Songwriter and vocalist from American electronic dance music band, Chicago, Jahan Yousaf said she felt blessed for being invited. She said her group had performed in Delhi and Mumbai and had received very positive response from the people. Former Miss India USA, Priyanka Singha and Nikhil Dhawan of dha 1 Fashion emceed the event. Reshma Femme, house of beauty products, presented ‘Miss Beautiful Skin’ and ‘Miss Beautiful Hair’ award to winning contestants. DJ Itesh from Needle Free Productions spun the hottest tunes from Bollywood and Hollywood and Saffron Spots provided a special cake to kick off the official cutting cake ceremony.
