PLACENTIA,CA - Devotees of the Radha Raman Temple here dreamed of building a new temple; and worked hard to achieve this. Having been at the same location for about 30 years, devotees felt it was time for a change and an upgrade. This led to the demolition of the previous temple and the building of an improved temple.
The project was to be executed in three phases: the service building, the parking lot, and then the physical temple.
Construction on the project began about three years ago. The service building was built first so that there would be a safe place to temporarily hold the idols while the new temple was being built. The service building is home to a variety of amenities. Second in the construction project came the parking lot. Finally came turn for the temple. Beginning construction for the temple required asking permission from the Diety to start building. To do this, the Temple held a Bhoomi Poojan Mahotsav on April 14.
The new temple will be home to many deities.
108 kundis (fire pits) were needed to perform the Bhoomi Pooja. Hence Keshavdas and Raghunandan, priests of the temple, along with devotees came together to perform the puja.
Upon the arrival of the dignitaries, the board members of the Society Advance Vedic Culture took a few minutes to speak with the devotees.
Narendra Shah, master of ceremonies, introduced all the honorable guests to the devotees. Senator Ling Ling Chang, Mayor of Placentia Rhonda Shader, Councilman Chad Wanke, and Councilman Craig Green were the esteemed guests.
“It has been an honor to see this come to fruition,” said Councilman Wanke.
Shah then continued to talk about how all of the city officials have assisted them in achieving this dream of a new temple. “The City of Placentia is so pleased to partner with you all,” said Mayor Shader.
Given the opportunity, Senator Chang presented Ashwin Patel, President of S. A. V. C., with a Certificate of Recognition. “This temple has been a dream and that dream is finally coming true. It would not have been possible without all of you,” said an emotional Patel.
Patel, Madhu Garg, and Kundan Kumar were the three volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this temple possible. Gratitude was expressed to them as well as to all of the volunteers. The Priests, dignitaries, and devotees them took part in the Puja. The newly renovated Temple is expected to be ready by the end of this year.
