R-Day Celebrated With Pride in Valley

Supriya Chakraborty, followed by  the Indian National Anthem.  President Vineet Puri and IALA founder Inder Singh welcomed all in their opening speeches. Various dignitaries graced the occasion and enjoyed the cultural program. Chief of Staff from Congressman Brad Sherman’s office Scott Abrams, and Deputy Consul General of India, San Francisco Rohit Rathish were among the guest of honors. They were welcomed and honored by the Executive Vice President Sunil Agrawal and VP Public Relation Nalini Natrajan. All the invited dignitaries addressed the audience and lauded IALA’s community work.Deputy CGI emphasized how the Consulate is reaching out to the Indian community using social media,and said grievances or suggestions were welcome. 
Abrams presented a Congressional appreciation certificate from Congressman Sherman’s office to a Puri.Puri introduced IALA’s executive committee, Board of directors and  thanked all the sponsors and volunteers who helped the association in putting up the event.Puri also thanked Emirates Airlines for being a grand sponsor, DJ Scorpio for providing extraordinary sound and colorful lighting, and TV-Asia for providing wide coverage. IALA also provides a platform to artists to showcase their talent. VP-Cultural Kavita Puri, along with Aishveryaa Nidhi put up a cultural show emceed by Nidhi while the first part was emceed by Executive VP Sunil Agrawal. The cultural program included Bollywood dances.  Hindi songs on karaoke tracks  were sung by Shabari Girish  in a mesmerizing voice. People danced and enjoyed his melodious songs. Throughout the evening various dances were performed by Bollywood Beyond and Fire/Light Dance by artists from the LA rarea.  A raffle was organized in an interactive and fun-filled way by Raman Chadha  and prizes given to winners. The event ended with an open dance floor as guests gyrated to Bollywood dance numbers DJ’ed by DJ Scorpio Sanjay Sayal.
