LAKE FOREST,CA- Our Indian Culture celebrated International Women’s Day, by organizing “Pretty In Pink-Women Empowerment Gala” on March 9 here, to honor the courageous and industrious women leaders in Orange County who are engaged in efforts to raise social awareness and are instrumental in inculcating a culture...
of active engagement in the community. It was a glittering evening with around 250 guests full of cultural dance performances, Bollywood dance and, and mellifluous live-singing. The guests listened with rapt attention to compelling speeches by illustrious guest speakers.
OIC also felicitated CRY Orange County for their current social work projects. The proceeds from this event were donated to CRY Orange County which is engaged tirelessly to protect the rights of underprivileged children to further the efforts towards child development.
OIC, founder & director, Akshita Khurana was presented with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congresswomen Mimi Walters and the California State Assembly, for her efforts to promote Indian culture throughout Orange County and empower women to become successful leaders and entrepreneurs. Women Achievers Awards were presented to women leaders in various fields. Farrah Khan received the Community Leader award for relentlessly serving the community by raising her voice about issues that matter most, Mansi Mehra received the Entertainer of the Year award; Shreya Malhotra received the Young Achievers award for her contribution to the NGO “WHY”; Wipha received Media & Photography; Kourtney McGowan received the Diversity award raising awareness about embracing diversity within our communities; and Aarti Kaushal was the recipient of the award for Child Development Advocacy. This entertaining evening culminated in a dazzling fashion show, showcasing all in attendance women in all their finery and ornamentation. Then it was time for the crowds to dance with full abandon to Bollywood beats.
