LOS ANGELES, CA – The Pratham-Mody Technical Institute was inaugurated on Jan 4 in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The center is made possible by the generous donation of Mrs. Sudha and Late Pravin Mody. It will train students in construction, electrical, and plumbing and is expected to graduate 600 students in its first year of operations. Additional verticals such as beauty, CNC, and healthcare are expected to be added soon.
There is already an impressive list of placement partners in each of the verticals, some of them are - Godrej Properties, Haier, Larsen & Toubro, LG, and Tata Housing.
“It was Pravin’s dream for many years to build this technical institute and we are so glad that his wishes came true,” said Navneet Chugh, President of Pratham LA.
Sudha Mody had visited the site on a few occasions in the past, including when it was “just a piece of land”. She was overwhelmed with emotions seeing her husband’s dream come alive.
“Pravin envisioned this center and I wish he was here with us today to see it. However, I know this is exactly how he had pictured it and that he is watching over us, happy and proud of this accomplishment.
We have already received so much more from this center than we gave in dollars”, she said in her address.
Sujata Mody commented, “Driving in today, the first thing I felt is my dad’s presence. I can feel him, he’s here with us and it is a great joy to see his dream come true. Someone gave him a helping hand in his early years and he wanted to give back. He wanted to make it possible for everyone to have an opportunity to make something more of their lives, and this center is his legacy”. Ameer Mody said “The two things that were most important to dad were education and helping each other, and this center brings both of those together in a wonderful way”.
Ashesh Kamdar, son-in-law of Pravin Mody, remarked that the center “reminded me of our engineering days, we didn’t have such state-of-the-art equipment in our classrooms. It is a beautiful center, and I could see engineers have thoughtfully designed every aspect of it”.
Pratham co-founder and President, Madhav Chavan said, “Pravin Mody challenged us to go beyond services and venture in to production and industrial training. We are glad he did because we are already receiving a very positive response from our local placement partners. This is an interesting new beginning for us.”
