upcoming Mahotsav. The guests were entertained by musicians Aalok Mehta,Ireesh Lal, Neel Agrawal and Anisha Nagarajan the lead singer. The goal of the meeting was to bring people together to encourage participation in the upcoming event and to spread the word so as to have a sold out Gujarat Mahotsav.
The presentation kicked off with a video depicting various different folk songs, dances and festivals of Gujarat.
Sharad Mehta one of the main organizers, then reviewed the plans informing that seating would be available for over 3500 attendees. Around 65 exhibition booths, a food court, exhibition halls for Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel as well as a large area for display of arts and crafts of Gujarat will be set up. Pravin Patel,president, speaking of his vision of the Mahotsav, focused on preserving the cultural heritage and language of Gujarat. Community leader B.U. Patel encouraged all Gujarati organizations and individuals to support the Mahotsav. Another community leader Suru Manek also expressed enthusiasm about the Mahotsav , stressing the need to bring more of this kind of mega events to Southern California with artists from India.Rashmi Shah, who has been bringing various artists from India here for many years, called on all the guests to participate in large numbers. Arvind Joshi and Jagdish Purohit talked about the importance of the Mahotsav for the community.
