donated 1000 eye glasses to Lions Club International to be distributed to the less fortunate.
The dinner event was packed, the majority of who were Lions Club members along with their respective families. Reggie Benjamin, a celebrity pop singer and actor was one of the biggest highlights of the night.
The event started with a welcome address and introduction by President Lion Sam Bhogal. “Let’s go for great deeds and high accomplishments”, he stated. Bhogal went on to express his passion for the club and how it continues to strive to tackle universal issues in the world such as hunger and poverty. “The world needs us because we have the courage to standup for those whose lights are being diminished from pursuing an education and independence,” Bhogal expressed to his fellow Lions.
An installation ceremony took place for incoming officers of the Los Angeles Indo American Lions Club. The three chairmen of the club were introduced: K.V. Kumar, Dr. Paul Husson, and Prince Sunil Tolani. Representing the youth members of the club, Simran Bhogal, reached out to the younger crowd to help continue the fantastic work already being done across the country.
Lion Vijay Patil provided the audience with a brief history of the club with an audio-visual presentation. Eyesight, disaster relief, and humanitarian needs are the primary focus areas of the Lions Club. The entertainment portion of the evening consisted of various Bollywood dances by local youth. Indian pop star Reggie Benjamin, even with his busy schedule, continues to give back to the community, helping to raise over $2 million for Hands 2 India Foundation. After performing a beautiful rendition of a Bollywood classic, Benjamin announced he would be donating his royalty income to the Los Angeles Indo American Lions Club.
