Indian-American organizations were there calling for women empowerment and speaking out for other causes. It was an event where women stood as one demanding a larger and bigger voice but also celebrated the recent political success in the mid-term elections.
Rep.Katie Hill (D-CA25) who defeated GOP incumbent Steve Knight was on hand to remind the crowd of this, saying, “the work you did got the most women ever elected to Congress.” First Partner Jennifer Newsom applauded the strides taken by women and said, “Women matter. Our voices are important and valuable. Our experiences are unique.” The march applauded women with one placard asking, ‘I am a girl, what’s your superpower?’ Another declared, ‘God is a woman.’ The #Metoo movement naturally had its strong presence with Supreme Court judges Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas featuring. A slew of other causes was also in evidence. There were environmentalists urging, ‘Change politics not climate,’; Black Lives Matter addressed racism and demands for world peace was made with quotes and images of figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Malala Yousefzai.
The ongoing LA teachers strike had the support of Mayor Eric Garcetti. Demonstrators in favor of the teachers held up signs and cheered him along.

The catalyst for the first Women’s March was in 2017 when he was sworn into office and the continued scorn for the man in office was in evidence over a series of matters: immigration, the ‘wall’ at the Mexican border that has paralyzed government and is causing misery to federal workers, his dealings with women, his hidden and shady tax and business dealings…
The number of references to Russia was too hard to count but the word ‘nyet’ would surely have been learned by all.
