Irvine,CA The annual Ratha Yatra organized by the Jagannath Society of Southern California(JSC) took place on June 29 at the Mandir here drawing around 500 devotees. JSC organized the event in collaboration with the Mandir. This is the third annual Ratha Yatra celebration at the Mandir campus.
Irvine,CA The annual Ratha Yatra organized by the Jagannath Society of Southern California(JSC) took place on June 29 at the Mandir here drawing around 500 devotees. JSC organized the event in collaboration with the Mandir. This is the third annual Ratha Yatra celebration at the Mandir campus.
On this occasion the Mandir is completely transformed with the temple committee and JSC organizers working hand in hand to make it a big event for the local community. The day started with Puja of Lord Jaganath, Balavadra and Subhadra. In the afternoon deities were brought out to the Ratha. The Ratha Yatra started around 4pm and concluded around 6pm when the idols returned to the temple. Devotees celebrated the occasion with Bhajan and Kirtan.
Los Angeles Chinmaya Mission Swami Eswara Nanda blessed the Ratha Yatra. He spoke on the significance of the Ratha and idols while he encouraged the kids to participate and enjoy the event.
To mark the occasion JSC released a magazine “Bhakti” which was distributed to all attendees. This is an annual magazine which has articles contributed by members of JSC. Kids and adults had put up stalls of various types jewelry and food.
The evening was concluded with an hour-long cultural event. Delicious dinner and prasad was served to all attendees by the organizers.For more info log on to http://www.jagasocal.org/
