BUENA PARK, CA – There were giggles, wiggles and laughter everywhere when Mahesh Shastri from Ahmedabad and Nirav Mehta from Vadodara, Gujarat, came together for the comedy show ‘Comedy Express’ here at Amaya restaurant on Sept 7 and entertained the audience of serious comedy lovers.
BUENA PARK, CA – There were giggles, wiggles and laughter everywhere when Mahesh Shastri from Ahmedabad and Nirav Mehta from Vadodara, Gujarat, came together for the comedy show ‘Comedy Express’ here at Amaya restaurant on Sept 7 and entertained the audience of serious comedy lovers.
Mahesh Shastri, who is in the 50th year of his comedy career and is known as ‘comedy king’ made the audience roll with laughter. Winner of national and state awards, Shastri said he observed society and people closely and drew humor from daily conduct and behavior of people. While talking to IJ, Shastri said he uses comedy as a tool to raise awareness of important social issues like poverty, respect for women and caring for the elderly.
Nirav Mehta, runner up of the popular Indian show ‘Laughter Challenge Season 1’, presented a variety of items including jokes, mimickery and parody singing. He imitated the voices of popular Bollywood actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Om Puri, Kulbushan Kharbanda, Amrish Puri and Rajesh Khanna. He made the audience laugh all the way to the bank when he talked about an imaginary audition for popular Indian TV show ‘Ramayan’, where famous Bollywood actors like Dharminder, Amol Palekar, Sayeed Zafri, Sanjeev Kapoor and Naseeruddin Shah came and delivered dialogs in their own novel way.
The show was organized by 3S entertainment in association with Shah Foundation. Organizer of the event, Harshad Modi while talking to IJ said the aim of the event was to promote Gujarati language and to make it popular among the younger generation. He said laughter leads to a healthy life.
