DOWNEY,CA – Recognizing the contributions women of the 58th Assembly District have made to their local communities and beyond on International Women’s Day, Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) on Mar 8 honored 12 local women as AD58 Women of the Year. The honorees span the nine cities within the district, according to a Press release. Brinda Gandhi attorney from Chugh LLP was among the 12 honored.
“Women have always been the backbone of our communities, our families and our neighborhoods,” said Garcia. “Today is about strong women demanding their place in the world while acknowledging their strength, generosity and grit to lift up others. More than anything today is about strong women celebrating other strong women and serving as examples to men that they too can be strong. I’m proud to have these women as my sisters and neighbors. However, while we celebrate the leading roles women play to strengthen our society; we are also cognizant of the work we still have to do to lift women to more roles in the board room, the court house, the legislature and all areas of decision making while addressing the pay gap that has thwarted our economic success for generations. At the end of the day, when women thrive, communities thrive, ” she said.
