the mood. Accompanying musicians were Rahis Khan on the tabla, Bashir Khan on the banjo and Dhiren Raichura on the guitar. Jalota, in his powerful voice sang religious bhajans with as much fervor as he melodiously crooned the soulful ghazals. The crowd was very pleased to see Jalota in his element chanting ‘Rang de Chunariya’ amongst others. Jalota kept the audience mesmerized as he sang a medley of Meera bhajans and ghazals. He dedicated the famous ‘Yeh daulat bhi le lo’ to the late ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh, remembering him with fondness. Vijaya Bhanu, who has run Sri Sakte Sarade for many years, took the audience by surprise with her vocal performance. Bhanu, later, did what she does best, a Bharatnatyam performance. Bhanu’s daughter, Sarah also did a Bharatnatyam performance depicting the nine planets. Students of Sri, Sakte, Sarade Kalaniketan took to the stage to entertain the audience with their performances. The show was dedicated to Harshad and his wife Bharti Mody who were the event coordinators. The emcee of the evening was Qusro Patel.
