FULLERTON, CA - Navneet and Ritu Chugh hosted a fundraiser at their residence here on June 4 for Raja Krishnamoorthi(Democrat)running for Congress from Illinois 8th District. A sum of $25,000 was raised at the afternoon meet and greet event as guests got to interact one-on-one with Krishnamoorthi.
Social, kind, and humble are among the many words that can be used to describe Krishnamoorthi, the man of the hour. Krishnamoorthi took the time and the effort to speak with all guests with an honest interest in getting to know everyone. Navneet Chugh while introducing Krishnamoorthi said “We must support all Indians,” in hopes of encouraging everyone to donate generously.
He called Krishnamoorthi to the microphone to say a few words. After taking a few moments to thank the hosts and the guests, Krishnamoorthi speaking to the audience said, “I am running for Congress for you.” Meaning that he is running for Congress for Indian-Americans to have a say in politics, highlighting that if there is an Indian-American in Congress then the voice of Indian-Americans can be heard. Some of the issues he mentioned as important are making college more affordable, improving child care, equal- work equal- pay, social security and medicare, and strengthening small businesses. Concluding his points, Krishnamoorthi took some questions from the audience. One of the questions asked was, “Talk to me about money, how much have you made and how much do you need?” “We have raised $2 million and would like to raise another $1 million,” said Krishnamoorthi in response. All in all, the fundraiser helped boost his coffers.
