NEW DELHI: Ahead of the U.S.-India strategic dialogue, a CII delegation comprising CEOs is on a visit to the US to hold consultations and highlight the "tremendous potential" for engagement between the two nations. Cabinet officials from India and the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the country later in September. The delegation which began its visit is slated to conclude the tour on September 10. "Through this visit, CII will seek to highlight the tremendous potential for engagement between U.S. and India in critical areas such as defence, infrastructure, clean energy, higher education, skills development as well as innovation and entrepreneurship cutting across various sectors," CII said. "In addition, the CEOs mission seeks to convey to stakeholders in the US the definitive commitment of the Indian industry towards this relationship and to find ways to chart a bold new path for deepening US-India partnership," it added. Later this month, India and the U.S. will hold first-ever high-level strategic and commercial dialogue in Washington focusing on areas such as ease of doing business and smart cities with an aim to boost investment and raise bilateral trade five-fold to USD 500 billion annually. While in San Francisco, the CII delegation will hold a roundtable meeting with U.S. investors and business leaders in partnership with U.S.-India Business Council. In Washington DC, the CII delegation will meet high level officials from government agencies such as USTR, U.S. Department of Commerce, and well as Members of Congress. In addition, CII will organize a roundtable in partnership with The Atlantic Council, where the members of the delegation will give their perspectives on "getting to USD 500 billion in U.S.-India trade". The industry chamber will also be organising a roundtable with National Academy of Sciences on manufacturing innovation. Forbes is accompanied by CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee, Cadila Pharmaceuticals CMD Rajiv Modi, Hero Future Energies MD Rahul Munjal, Hi-Tech Gears Chairman Deep Kapuria and Tarun Sawhney, Vice Chairman and MD, Triveni Engineering and Industries Ltd.
