NEW YORK, NY - Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns and markets the Amul brand of milk products, will start manufacturing some of its products in the US from February.
The milk giant has decided to start manufacturing ghee (butter oil), paneer (cottage cheese) and shrikhand (sweet yogurt) from a manufacturing plant near New York.GCMMF decided to initially start with three products and target around 3 million Indian and many more Asian consumers in the country.

The milk major has joined hands with a New Jersey based Indian-American to use his existing dairy plant near New York. The company will provide technology and infrastructure support for the manufacture of milk products. It will maintain its core value of cooperative structure and source milk from milk cooperative dairies in the US.GCMMF is believed to export around $16.16 million worth of its dairy products annually to the overseas markets including the US and Middle East, Europe and Asia.
