His ideal will be to have attained peace, become one with nature, and have found his psychological truth and philosophical Self.
Continuously working toward his ideals, Doshi recently received a Doctorate of Peace award from the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. MUM is a non-profit university, with a completely different approach on education, which was founded in 1971 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. In an exclusive interview with India Journal, Doshi reacting to the award said, “What a hugely prestigious honor. I am not quite sure if I deserve the highest honor they have given to me, but I feel wonderful.”
Not only does Doshi appreciate the award he has received additionally he respects, admires, and holds to a higher regard the system in place at MUM.
“They (MUM) are an institution run by saintly organizers; saintly because you have chosen to live a much simpler life for a cause that helps humanity towards a peaceful and blissful mind. A mind with an ocean of love and feelings of oneness. They (MUM) are so dedicated providing probably the best education to their students,” said Doshi. While accepting his award, Doshi gave a speech in which he spoke about his ideals of peace, nature, truth, and Self. First touching on the topic of peace and what it means and how to embody it.
“’Peace’ has a very broad meaning. External to ourselves, it implies the absence of hostility and violence, not just physical but also verbal,” said Doshi.
In hopes of finding his truth, Doshi continuously strives toward working and completing his goals. “Finding Psychological Truth is the perpetual process of harmonizing intellectual and intuitive truths. The Philosophical Truth encompasses not only science and mathematics but also fields of humanities,” said Doshi.
In addition to figuring out his Psychological and Philosophical Truths, Doshi is as well attempting to determine his Self.
“The Philosophic Self is not the realm of the spiritual Self of permanence; it is evolving and rising towards the spiritual Self. The Philosophical Self is fully developed when every human faculty, in harmony, is integrated, in balance with and complementing its opposite,” said Doshi.
Hoping to achieve a sense of Philosophical Self, Doshi continues to strive to accomplish his goals and live life to what he considers the fullest.
“I do not know where I am mentally at this stage of my life. However, I keep practicing ways to attain the highest state of mind. I must admit that I am not, repeat, I am not yet free totally from mental stress,” said Doshi.
There is an ongoing struggle to free ourselves from stresses and other binds of this world. Doshi will always continue to find ways to unbind himself to eventually attain the Philosophical Self.

Yoga Day Marked in Irvine

http://www.indiajournal.com/metro_1/yoga-day-marked-in-irvine

http://www.indiajournal.com/metro_1/yoga-day-marked-in-irvine#comments

Uncategorized

IRVINE,CA - Self- motivated volunteers from the Mandir here and community service organization Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh jointly organized yoga sessions at four community facilities here on June 23. Coming this far has been an amazing journey and I’m feeling so proud of everyone involved already,” Sasha said.
“We are already starting to feel the positive effects of making space for diverse stories. Kamali’s story represents an incredible moment in India and shows how massive change can start with just one person. I believe skateboarding is a symbol of going against the grain, standing boldly in front of society and taking ownership of one’s life,” she added. Sasha, who won Best Director at the Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival for “Kamali”, has worked across multiple disciplines. She believes storytelling can spotlight communities to showcase role models, and she focuses on films that highlight social causes.
The director was in India to direct Wild Beasts’ single “Alpha Female” when she stumbled upon Kamali’s story. “The documentary ‘Kamali’ came about when I flew to India for the first time to film a music video for British band Wild Beasts. It was a song called ‘Alpha Female’ and I had proposed filming Indian girls skateboarding as the theme for the video. “I had seen a photo of Kamali skating barefoot down a ramp and knew she had to be part of the video. Little did I know that it would be her and her mother Suganthi’s first trip out of their fishing village. When Kamali arrived at the skatepark, her eyes lit up as she had never seen such a big skatepark.
“Her energy was magical. Kamali and her mother stayed with me and the crew, and speaking with her really opened my mind to what dedication and bravery women take to break the cycle of tradition and repression. Their story needed to be shared, because Kamali is the prime example of a little girl being given the freedom to be herself, and what a delight it is to see.”
She says language was a barrier, but “not understanding everything helped us to focus on the depth of Kamali’s relationship with her family”. Looking back at making the film, the New Zealand-born filmmaker said: “It was a completely independent production, so it took a very small team of us with the passion and belief in the project to make the film and turn it into a reality.”

Lions Club Celebrates Installation Nite

http://www.indiajournal.com/metro_1/lions-club-celebrates-installation-nite

http://www.indiajournal.com/metro_1/lions-club-celebrates-installation-nite#comments

Uncategorized

BY A STAFF REPORTERORANGE, CA- Lions Club of Little India celebrated their 14th installation Nite on May 15, at The Tandoor Restaurant, here. The candidate participated in a lively Q & A lead by the MC of the evening Dr. Parveen Syal as well as audience members.
Here are some answers to questions raised:
Resolving homelessness:
The problem is getting worse and City Hall politicians would rather prolong it than resolve it. Bond funding is available but being restrained due to selfish reasons. If I win we can resolve this problem together: I would like to help open a homeless shelter in an empty building in the industrial area in our district. We need to purchase one, create job training opportunities and build a neighboring Sikh temple or Gurdwara because they will feed the homeless. The Sikh temple will give them spirituality and their souls will seek answers. It will soon become a model for other cities to follow. Sikh Gurdwaras are known for feeding needy people.
Singh firmly stated that he would however not want the homeless shelter in his backyard. He said: ``If somebody asks me if I want a homeless shelter in my back yard, I will refuse. That is why I came up with the idea of housing a homeless shelter in the industrial area. The city has the money to do it but not the will. Yet, they want to hold the Olympics? Can you imagine the embarrassment?
At this point the floor was opened for audience questions and an army veteran said that veterans become homeless due to untreated PTSD problems and how can the city council help with this?
To this Singh replied,``My plan of treatment, Sikh hospitality and spirituality via the Gurudwara is once again a great option.’’
33 year old Karan Singh Chadha pointed out that the homeless suffer from severe mental health problems and intense alcohol and drug abuse. Getting to a shelter is far from their mind, they are just looking for their next fix. To which Singh replied,`` I will consult with other city councils to see what has worked and follow them.’’
At this point the conversation moved to the stinky dump issue in the city of Granada Hills. Singh said,``The dump needs to be relocated entirely to an open land area by the 14 freeway.’’
Singh also gave his views on the following issues exclusively to India Journal:
Sanctuary city status:
I am against Los Angeles being a sanctuary city.
City Councilman Salaries:
Average pay is $200K which is a waste. Additionally, councilmen are getting kickbacks and under the table deals. I have never made $200 k in a year and yet have a simple but, sufficient lifestyle.
Teacher salaries:
A 7% parcel tax levy has been put on the table by teachers demanding higher salaries. Our schools are really failing as teachers are just babysitters due to the lack of good parenting. We should have a talk with the teachers to actually teach not just watch the kids. They continue asking for more and more money. Why should we pay more to teachers for mere baby-sitting? I am against the 7% tax and also against giving more salary to the teachers.
Public areas:
Roads in District 12 are in bad shape and need to be repaved. We need to install more left hand signals too. A new shopping area is developing in Porter Ranch without giving consideration to the traffic jams, safety and crowding issues it will cause. This is a perfect example of the lack of transparency and approvals given without being considerate.
The evening continued into the night with melodious singing by Sa Re Ga Ma 2016 finalist Jagpreet Bajwa. What is notable is that despite being visually challenged due to a childhood ailment that robbed his sight, this young man continues to make headlines in the realm of music.
Singh concluded with a message to the community:``Participate in the election and vote for your community to be represented. Together this is a great opportunity for us.I will be available to you all 24/7.’’
