Ranjit Vishanath then invited guests Munish Makkar, Harbhajan Singh Samra ,Dr. Dhamija and all executive committee members for the flag hoisting ceremony amidst singing of the American and Indian national anthems.
California State Assembly member Tony Mendoza was present at the event along with other dignitaries. Ramesh Mahajan addressed the audience on the significance of Republic Day and importance of local community involvement in the democratic process in the US. Mendoza presented a community service appreciation plaque to Mahajan on behalf of IASC.
Kamini Khare. introduced the committee members Nila Parikh, Charu Shivkumar, Amarjeet Dhamija, Anjana Patel, Dipal akhwana,Ravjibhai Patel who were part of the organizing committee and thanked them for giving their best to make the event truly representative of one India with many colorful blooms representing its rich diversity of culture & traditions.
The cultural program started with ‘Ganesh Vandana’ a dance performed by students of Sri Shakti Sharada Kala Niketan Dance School of Vijaya Bhanu followed by a group dance by students of Letz Danz Academy of Deepa. They ended the performance with the Bollywood hit ‘Hum Hai Indiawale,’ which was greatly appreciated by the audience. Students of Savitri Arts Academy of Dr. Sinduri showcased their classical dance talent.
Amarjeet Dhamija took to the stage and introduced local talented singers Smita Das, Dr. Sadani, Dr Dhamija and Veena. They dazzled the audience with new and old Bollywood hits. The evening ended with the audience dancing to DJ music.
