a Lakshmi puja, It was followed by a puja to Narsinghdev and was conducted in the traditional style by priests in which the dignitaries present either participated in or observed keenly. Congressman Ed Royce, State Senator Bob Huff, Mayor of Placentia, Chad Wanke, City Councilman Craig Green, City Treasurer Kevin Larson, City Administrator Damien Arrula, were among those present. The navagrah puja, propitiating the planets, was then done by sponsors and was followed by the joyous chanting of bhajans and havan. Prasad was served to all after the rituals were performed.
Temple authorities told India journal that $1.2 million has already been collected toward the expansion program through donations and fund raisers. The current funds will be used towards construction of phase 1 which consists of the temple’s 5,300 sq ft service building, a parking lot and other site improvements. The approximate completion date of phase 1 is April 2016.
Phase II of the expansion project, temple management said, will begin when the remaining funds are collected. It will include demolition of the existing temple building. All the deities, they said, would be safely and with honor, relocated to the service building while construction is going on. The completion of the expansion project will lead to one large temple with a new and improved dining area, kitchen, area for kids’ activities and priest quarters. Estimated completion time is April 2017.
