On Monday, September 1, the birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated with great fervor by the Radha Krishna Mandir, here. The oldest Hindu temple, on the West of Mississippi, and the third oldest temple in America, Radha Krishna Mandir celebrates each and every Hindu festival on the same day of the actual festival,
On Monday, September 1, the birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated with great fervor by the Radha Krishna Mandir, here. and not on the weekend as many do for convenience. A small child adorned as baby Krishna was carried in the basket on the head of Jay Shah a devotee dressed as Nand, the father of Krishna, into the temple. Later a bunch of kids broke the “matka” – an earthern pot, as symbolic gesture of Krishna breaking the pot – a festivity typically celebrated, called “Govinda”.

MONTEBELLO
A large crowd of devotees , more than expected, celebrated Jaanamasthami on Sep 2.at Shri Nand Shiv Durga Mandir with great devotion and love .The events ran from 7pm to midnight. There was pooja ,archana, Krishna Leela, bhajans, kirtan and arati. The play was called “Sabse Bedi Prem Sagai” meaning the highest form of love. In the play, Lord Krishna doesn’t get enticed by money or material things instead only bears true love and devotion for his devotee.The play was performed by children and dances were performed by ladies. At the end,temple president, Dr Yogesh Arora and Dr Bambi presented trophies to performers . Arati was offered to the beautifully decorated deities.
COSTA MESA
At the Siva Kameswari temple there was abhishekam, archana, breaking of dahi handi, a dance recital by Shwetha Ashwin and bhajans by Pandit Sidharth Pathak and group. There was a special archana to Lord Krishna and arati. Over 200 devotees gathered and took part in the worship.
