by Goswami Ji which took place at the Sanatan Dharma Temple here from July 1 through 7 organized by the Shri Banke Bihari Seva Mandal. In previous years, the Banke Bihari events presented Kathas and Shlokas from the entire Bhagwat Gita, all 12 Chapters and 18,000 Shlokas. However this year, Guru Ji primarily concentrated on Kathas and Shlokas around the topic of Shri Krishna Bhagwan.
“This year focused on chapter 10, the Krishna chapter, of the Bhagwat Gita,” said Deepak Hira, the main organizer.
The first gathering of the week-long series of sermons told the story of Shobha Yatra, Krishna Janam, and Nand Utsav. Continuing the teachings came the Shiv Leela Darshan which was then followed by the Bal Leela and the Gordhan Jhanki.
The highlight of July 4 was the Malin Phal Wali Jhanki. Other highlights were the Jhoolan Utsav, Rukmani Mangal and Lath Mar Holi. The series concluded with a Vishram.
Decorations for every get-together were coordinated to match the subject of the Kathas and Shlokas. An `Aarti’ was performed at the start of each gathering of worshippers to ensure an auspicious beginning for the devotees who were then invited to the stage to get blessings from Guru Ji.
Sponsors, volunteers, and kids on July 6, were given the opportunity to get their share of blessings from Guru Ji. Hira invited his son Chirag Hira, to say a few words about his feelings and experiences.
“Guru Ji has been blessing us for over two decades and every single year the Katha still feels new. It’s remarkable that this year was highlighted by having Kathas in Hemet, Riverside, and Norwalk in three consecutive weeks. We have built Banke Bihari Seva Mandal into a giant community that continues to grow every year,” said Chirag.
Hira then thanking devotees said, “Thank you from the Mandal to everyone who has supported the Banke Bihari events every year.”
After more teaching from Guru Ji it it was time for Rukmani and Krishna’s Mangal. Anmol Sharma and Priyanka Patel portrayed the roles of Rukmani and Krishna respectively in the reenactment of Rukmani and Krishna’s Vivah.Stage decorations for the Vivah were done by Amit and Anany Anand of Synx Events.
Then came Lath Mar Holi. Comparative to previous years the celebration of Holi was different this year as Guru Ji utilized `pichkaris’ to sprinkle rose water onto the audience. Additionally, `gulal’ was distributed to devotees to smear on each other’s faces to spread the happiness as well as flowers and petals. Guru Ji then took time to sing bhajans maintaining the momentum with the audience to get them on their feet to dance. Each of the gatherings came to a close on a sweet note in which various desserts were handed out on different days to all devotees present.
