consultant who displayed to those in attendance the proper etiquette and techniques of how to perform yoga. He maintained the importance of quality versus quantity because it is essential to do the exercises correctly rather than doing them numerous times. “As long as you do it properly, yoga will be effective,” said Tiwari.
Together with Tiwari, the audience members practiced various yoga and breathing exercises. Individuals who participated were told by Tiwari to do so with force and strength and to push their bodies.
Then Acharya Roopchandraji Maharaj, spoke about the importance of maintaining a clean self and a pure environment in which we should surround ourselves in order to properly attain the blessings from God.
“We need to be good and pure for blessings to take effect,” said Maharaj Ji.
Many individuals who were en route to attend this event at the Acharya Sushil Kumar Center for Non-Violence here on August 28 were delayed due to a major accident on the 15 Freeway. Sunil Kumar Jain, a trustee of the Center, mentioned that it has been a year since the opening of this location and of their murthi sthapana.
Aspiring to continue to grow and develop piece by piece the Acharya Sushil Kumar Center for Non-Violence wants to be considered as a spiritual retreat and a place where people of all ages can come to meditate and connect with themselves and engage in camps and other activities for children. “A family centered and kid friendly retreat which teaches the fundamentals of Jainism and non-violence,” said Sanjiv Jain, trustee and joint secretary. Inder Jain’s vision of building a west coast ashram for Guruji Sushil Kumar was realized when the land the non-violence center sits on was purchased in 2009. Inder Jain, previous president and chairman, created the Southern California Mahavir Jain Mission which assisted in bringing to life the non-violence center continuing in Guruji Sushil Kumar’s straight path.
Harish Daga, current president of the Southern California Mahavir Jain Mission, was in attendance at the event.
