ANAHEIM, CA - An astute politician, a shrewd businessman and a family man at heart, Republican Harry Sidhu is a known face in Anaheim city and requires little mention. Yet, his upcoming involvements force us to take a special take on his past life, present status and future endeavors. After being part of several political journeys,

Sidhu now plans to take up a new role by entering the fray for Anaheim Mayoral elections, set to take place on November 6, 2018. The man is very clear in his ambitions. He emphasizes on his role, responsibilities and key to a prosperous city by giving an insight into his capabilities speaking with IJ. Talking about his heritage and early years, Sidhu says, “Being the first person of Indian heritage elected to the Anaheim City Council was a distinct honor and privilege. During my eight-year tenure serving as councilman and mayor pro tem, I established a strong reputation and proven track record for protecting the taxpayers, promoting public safety, expanding city services, improving neighborhoods, being a champion of small businesses, streamlining regulations, supporting meaningful pension reform, balancing fiscally responsible budgets, advancing youth programs, and encouraging a thriving business culture and economic development for local and regional job growth.’’ Further stating about his forward-thinking initiatives to benefit the community, he mentions about the annual Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo “that helped over 1,700 people get back to work during the recession”; a free annual Anaheim Health Fair in collaboration with the late Pravin Mody and Dr. Nitin Shah “that provided much needed medical, dental, and vision care services to tens of thousands of men, women, and children.”
Adding, he specifies, “During my time, private property owner rights were also strengthened through the support of a City Charter Amendment prohibiting eminent domain abuse. And, as an Orange County Water District Board Member and Alternate Commissioner for the Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority, I advocated for sensible water policies to protect and ensure the future sustainability of our vital local groundwater supplies.”
Communicating about his past accomplishments, he easily guides the discussion to the future and says, “Over forty years ago, I legally came to our great country as a young man full of dreams. One of my proudest moments was becoming an American citizen. Through hard work, as a proud American, I fulfilled many of those dreams. After three decades as a successful business owner, my calling has been to be of public service to my local community. As an Indian-American immigrant, I have truly lived the American dream. I offer a unique conservative perspective. I want to continue to open the doors of the American dream for others.”
He also details about his strengths and weaknesses and mentions, “My background experience makes me uniquely qualified to run for this office. I see “possibilities” where others may only see problems. As Anaheim Mayor, I look forward to make a difference for our community by getting things done with the proven experience we need working for us.”
What is his election agenda? Answering positively, he replies, “My key priorities will be growing our economy to create good jobs and housing, safeguarding our families by ensuring the highest level of police and fire protection, investing in community services and infrastructure improvements, keeping utility rates and taxes low, and continuing efforts to address the challenges posed by homelessness. In Anaheim, we need innovative problem-solving and experienced, common sense leadership to meet the needs of our community and keep our great city moving forward in a positive direction. As Mayor, I will be working to make a difference for our community through a leadership vision of promise and opportunity. I will strive to effectively govern with the City Council through innovative reforms, pro-neighborhood, and pro-business policies.”
“I will use my real world experience and proven ability to get things done.. We need to “think outside the box” on the issues facing our community.” Sidhu also has a message for his rivals- “I am passionately committed to this race. No matter the nature of the challenge or opponent, I will stay the course and stay true to my campaign vision. Any challenges that may potentially arise during my campaig will be overcome with optimism and by effectively prioritizing and accomplishing my campaign objectives. I don’t believe in tactics but plan to campaign for office with vision, commitment, and dedication.”
Sidhu’s election motto is – ‘Together We Can Make Anaheim Shine’. A family man, Sidhu calls his wife and two children the joy of his life. In his pastime, he enjoys supporting local arts organizations and youth events, traveling abroad, and boating in SoCal’s coastal waters with friends and family. As a General Aviation Licensed private pilot, he also enjoys flying.
