Kalra then spoke about how he has been running for a year but he has been helping people for about 20 years. He came across as down-to-earth and easily approachable. At the end of his speech he took a moment to thank the small gathering for their love and support. “It is all about support,” he said, adding an interesting point, “I will never ask anyone to do something I would not do myself.”
He himself went knocking on doors to talk to voters Explaining to them why they should vote for him..
“His (Kalra) overall vision is to help the state. He has a broader vision,” said Ali Sajjad Taj, who spoke very highly of Kalra.
After his speech, Kalra took the time to talk to every guest in attendance. He gave them advice. There was no sense of lecturing but honest and humble interest and suggestions.
He seemed like he truly cared about who he was talking to and attempted to take the time to try to get to know everyone. Kalra , who has been living in San Jose for nearly 40 years, has now visited Southern California twice. Previously Kalra visited in the winter, demonstrating that he took the time to reach all of his voters., so that if elected he would represent all of California. Kalra is the first Indian-American to be elected to the San Jose City Council. During his tenure, he has worked to bring together neighbors, local businesses and leaders from both sides to create real and positive changes for San Jose. He has also fought for a safer San Jose, to protect working families, and for more affordable housing.
