Delivering the first Defense Estates Day Lecture here he said an analysis has found that 30 per cent houses in India were corrupt. “Of the 200 millions houses in the country 60 million houses are corrupt. Each house comprise parent and their children,” he said. “The question is will the daughter or son would be bold enough to say to their corrupt father please do not do that (corruption)? Lets start from the home,” he added. Kalam observed that though the government could frame laws, it would only end up in filling jails.
Earlier, addressing the gathering he highlighted the qualities required for leadership. A leader, he said, must have a vision and courage to take decisions. “Leader should be transparent in every action...The 21st century needs leaders working with integrity and succeed with integrity,” Kalam stressed. He also stressed that the economic development of any nation is definitely linked with the creative leadership. For success in all the missions, it is essential to have creative leaders, he added. Minister of State for Defense Jitendra Singh also spoke on the occasion. (PTI)
