LOS ANGELES, CA – Nominations for the 75th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced on Dec 11 at the Beverley Hilton. Seth Meyers will host the 2018 ceremony on January 7. Indian-American comedian Aziz Ansari scored a nomination for best performance by an actor in a television series - musical or comedy for “Master of None”. Witty, quirky and irreverent is how Ansari’s Emmy-winning adventurous comedy, “Master of None,”

can be described. This Netflix series — which has won two Emmys for ‘Outstanding Writing’ and scored multiple acting nods for the Indian-American actor — has fetched him yet another nomination. The second season of the show, which warmed the cockles of audiences’ hearts, saw 30-year-old actor Dev, played by Ansari, pursue a new passion in Italy, dive back into the New York dating scene and wrestle with big questions as he seeks to reboot his life.
“Master of None” is competing with ABC’s “Black-ish,” Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” Showtime’s “Smilf,” and the NBC comedy, “Will & Grace.”
Ansari, who was nominated in the same category in 2016, faces stiff competition from Anthony Anderson, Kevin Bacon, William H. Macy and Eric McCormack.
However, this is not the only award that this Columbia, South Carolina-born actor-comedian is vying for in 2018. For his role in Season 2 of “Master of None,” Ansari has also been nominated in the ‘Best Actor in a Comedy Series’ category for the 23rd annual Critics’ Choice Awards, to air on The CW Network Jan. 11, 2018.Close behind in the film section are “The Post”—presented by Indian media and entertainment conglomerate Reliance Entertainment.
