LOS ANGELES, CA - Surrounded by his close family, Nadadur Vardhan passed away peacefully on July 3, following a brief illness. Vardhan was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend.He was a renowned international tax consultant, and President/ Founder of Nadadur Vardhan, Inc. He was also an avid political activist,
and served as a devoted president of Malibu Hindu Temple.Vardhan is survived by his wife, Dr. Indubala Nadadur Vardhan, his daughters, Dr. Malini Nadadur and Anjani Nadadur, his brother, Nadadur Kumar, his sisters Dr. Pushpa Kasturi and Alamelu Krishnamachary, and his beloved dog, Daisy.
Vardhan was born and raised in Hyderabad, before moving to the US in 1978. He was invited by the State Department to apply for an immigrant visa based on his qualifications as an accountant. He furthered his education in the US and received diplomas in the areas of accounting and business management from prominent universities including UCLA and New York University.
Vardhan’s life story is nothing short of the American Dream. In 2008, the United States House of Representatives awarded him the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his noteworthy accomplishments as an Indian-American professional. He received this award for his unique ability to celebrate both his Indian and American identities.
Vardhan worked as a top financial and business consultant at his practice in Santa Monica - Nadadur Vardhan, Inc. He has represented Hollywood’s elite. Among his celebrity clients were singer Lionel Richie and famed director Martin Scorsese. He was a fixture at the University of Southern California where he conducted tax workshops for international faculty and students and also gave lectures. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Vardhan was the devoted president of the Hindu Temple Society of Southern California. He served the Temple for over two decades, rendering selfless leadership and grass-roots service for the betterment of the temple and community at large. In his capacity as the president of the Temple, he was invited to the House of Commons in the United Kingdom where he spoke on the merits of religious unity.
Vardhan was a central figure in both the local and international political communities, responsible for organizing several major political events, including the World Hindu Economic Forum , the Los Angeles visits of the Indian Ambassador to the US, and town hall sessions for Representative Brad Sherman and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Vardhan also founded the Indo-American Vision Foundation, a pioneering independent think tank that empowered Indian American political activism. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Vardhan’s memory to the American Heart Association.
A viewing was held on Thursday, July 6 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at The Chapel at Funeraria Del Angel Praiswater in Van Nuys, California and a second viewing will be held on Saturday, July 8 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the same location
