NORTHRIDGE, CA - Basant Keertan Darbar of its own kind was held at Gurdwara Nanak Sadan, Northridge, on Saturday, Jan.30 evening. Nearly 500 people attended.

The special feature of the event was that all the musicians melodiously sang Shabads in Raag Basant enshrined in Guru Granth Sahib in Raag Basant.
Bhai Anantbir Singh of Gurdwara Riverside sang Shabads in two forms of Basant, Shudh Basant and Basant Hindol. He also sang Guldasta, the combination of Raag Basant, Marwa and Kalayan. Bhai Sohan Singh Rassia, Bhai Gurvinder Singh Paras of Gurdwara Nanak Sadan and Bhai Gurdip Singh of Gurdwara Lankershim also sang the Shabads in Raag Basant. Davinder Bassi, sang Shabads in different forms of Basant; Basant Shudh, Basant Bahaar and Basant Hindol.

Gajinder Shah Singh, Secretary of the Gurdwara, said “we are shortly going to upload the interpretation of Anand Sahib in phases at our web site www.nanaksadan.org and we will be shifting to the bigger premises in the near future.” He thanked the Raagi Jathas and the Sangat for their contributions.

Snacks, Langar and tea were served all day.
