WASHINGTON, D.C. - More than half a dozen Congressmen have introduced a Diwali resolution in the US House of Representatives greeting Hindus and people of Indian origin on the occasion of festival of lights, which will be celebrated on Oct 17.

Recognizing the historical and religious significance of Diwali, the resolution conveys best wishes to Americans and to people around the world celebrating Diwali. The resolution (H Res No 798) was introduced in the US House of Representatives October 6 by the Congressman Jim McDermott and co-sponsored by Congressmen, Frank Pallone, Joe Wilson, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Gary Ackerman.
