CHENNAI - AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa on Nov 19 threatened to sue Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, seeking Rs 10 million as damages if he did not apologise for his remarks that her party might have “instigated” the recent violence in Dr Ambedkar Law college here, which left three students injured.
In a legal notice sent to Karunanidhi through her lawyer, Jayalalithaa said AIADMK had never instigated anyone to indulge in violence and charged Karunanidhi with making a false accusation against her party.
Karunanidhi had earlier stated that his remarks were just to “make fun” of Jayalalithaa’s demand for his resignation over the violence at the law college on November 12. He had also said he was prepared to face any case filed by her in this regard. (PTI)
