NEW JERSEY -  BharatMatrimony, the leader in the online matrimonial space, has been rated by the online research and advisory firm JuxtConsult as the most preferred matrimonial search engine among Non Resident Indians.

In a study ‘NRI Online 2010’ conducted by JuxtConsult between February-March 2010, BharatMatrimony emerged a clear winner with over 39 percent of online NRI users preferring BharatMatrimony.com to other matrimonial portals. The survey covered the activity of 1,549 online NRI’s from various parts of the world and responses were collected using geographically targeted ‘contextual search ad campaign’ on Google as well as from some country-specific online panels.

The survey covered NRI’s from US, Canada, UK, Western Europe (West-based), Asia Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa, central and South America and South Asia to understand NRI Internet usage behavior. JuxtConsult studied the NRI online behavior pattern by taking into account years of experience in using internet, places of accessing internet, frequency of usage, time spent on the net. The survey captured how the NRI’s are connecting with their homeland with the main parameters being physical connectivity (traveling to India), communicational connectivity (calling India), financial connectivity (transferring money and making investments) and media connectivity (mediums used to stay updated about India).

Murugavel Janakiraman, Founder & CEO BharatMatrimony said, “Ever since we launched the matrimonial portal we have evolved and improvised our product to suit the ever changing needs of our online users. The JuxtConsult report only goes to show the popularity of our site among the NRI’s.”

Among the other significant findings, family remained the main motivation for NRI’s, especially in the Gulf countries, to stay connected with India. The survey cites searching for general news about India as the top online activity followed by Indian sports and music.
