to it was immediate from the community.
Held at the Sanatan Dharma Cultural Center, here, the camp drew 450 applicants with almost 150 taking advantage of the services and submitting their Visa/OCI/Renunciation applications. The applications were accepted on an appointment basis and the camp ran between 9 AM to 2 PM. People came from long distances and the crowd started gathering from 7:30 AM. The final person served was around 2:30 PM. People were very appreciative that the visa camp was back. Volunteers from GOPIO’s LA and OC chapters provided refreshments, copy/print service as well as Wi-Fi/Computer services to correct minor mistakes on applications.
The camp was held after repeated requests were made to Consul General Venkatesan Ashok from community leaders such as Inder Singh. Ambassador Ashok himself oversaw the functioning of the off-site visa camp for a short while. Consul T.Bhaskaran was present the entire while to take any queries from applicants. The volunteers who helped in organizing the visa camp include Inder Singh, Dilip Butani, Kewal Kanda, Amrit Bhandari, Rajinder Dhunna, Ramesh Bhatt, Ajmer Singh, Baljinder Tahim, Jay Naik, Yash Pall Singh, Anju Garg and Sunil Garg. Date for the next visa camp has been fixed as April 25. More information can be obtained at www.in.ckgs.us or [email protected].
