LONG BEACH, CA – SDM Cancer Relief Fund held its 33rd fundraiser on Oct 27 at the Golden Sails Hotel here with over 300 guests in attendance. Around $70,000 was raised. Mathew Daniel, Chairperson welcomed the audience and introduced president Abraham Mathew and the Board of Directors.
LONG BEACH, CA – SDM Cancer Relief Fund held its 33rd fundraiser on Oct 27 at the Golden Sails Hotel here with over 300 guests in attendance. Around $70,000 was raised. Mathew Daniel, Chairperson welcomed the audience and introduced president Abraham Mathew and the Board of Directors.

Abraham Mathew addressing the gathering explained the details of work done by the organization during 2018. SDM helped over 200 needy patients and distributed over $40,000 to four Hospitals in Kerala - Trivandrum Regional Cancer Center, Trivandrum; Caritas Hospital Kottayam; Amala Hospital, Trichur; and Calicut University Hospital Kozhikode. In addition it also sponsored three beds in Amala Hospital and donated $1000 to Caritas to sponsor beds.
Due to the unprecedented floods in Kerala and those patients affected by the floods, SDM released from their endowment fund $50,000 for distribution on compassionate grounds.
SDM is continuing to partner with Harbor UCLA Medical Center and help provide financial support with the Children’s Cancer Ward. ``Our ability to raise funds in dependent entirely on you. And for that, on behalf of the SDM Board, I thank you. This is how we grow and strive. It is through word of mouth and through your well wishes and generous contributions. Your continued support makes it possible for us to help these deserving cancer patients and I thank each of you for your help,’’ Mathew said.
Jai Johnson proposed the vote of thanks. Guests were entertained by the Joya Kazi Unlimited dance group. Kazi is an award winning dancer and choreographer who has worked within the Hollywood and Bollywood industries. The group put up a mesmerizing show.
