Pepperdine University’s Graziadio Business School and The Indus Entrepreneur of Southern California (TiE So Cal).
On the panel was Brian MacMahon of Expert Dojo, a tech accelerator and investment fund in Santa Monica; T.K. Pillan, who has a $50 million fund for plant-based food startups; Kinsey Cronin from the iconic StartEngine platform; Nick Sachdeva, from Tech Coast Angels; and Vishal Arora, who is a mentor for Alchemist in Northern California. The panel answered questions about how to speed up the cycle of deal making, where they are investing, where they find deal flow, and how to get in on the action.
The event was attended by Pepperdine entrepreneurship students and TiE SoCal members and charter members. Before the panel discussion there was an `Open Microphone’ session for eight startups to pitch their companies to the panel and to other investors who are TiE SoCal charter members – the elite members of the chapter who actively invest in startups. This partnership is spearheaded by Dr. Larry Cox, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio Business School, and Smita Bagla, President of TiE Southern California. The collaboration will include cross-attendance at events, TiE SoCal charter members judging at Pepperdine events, and more TiE events hosted at Pepperdine. Cox is also a charter member of TiE SoCal.
