NORWALK, CA - Community volunteers from various organizations including GOPIO chapters in SoCal organized a Consular Camp at the Joy of Sharing Community Center here. Nine members of the Indian Consulate office in San Francisco, under the leadership of Sumati Rao,
Consul for Community Affairs, were present to assist and answer any questions that community members had regarding passport renewals, visa, OCI cards, passport renunciation, and others such as power of attorney.
About 80 members of the community attended the camp. Many attendees had questions about their inability to apply for visa or new passports for lack of some required documents. Consulate officers guided them, and many attendees were glad they came and had their questions answered directly by the Consulate staff.
Inder Singh, Kewal Kanda, Rajinder Dhunna, Baljinder Tahim, Aparna Hande, Rani Kuusto, Sunil Agrawal, Ashok Patnaik, Ashok Madan, Vasu Pawar, Dr. Manorama Gupta, Amrit Bhandari, and other volunteers helped to put the event together.
The next Consular Camp will be held in September.
