
SACRAMENTO,CA-India Independence Day was celebrated by the Indian Association of Sacramento(IAS) on August 8 at The Red Lion hotel here.More than 2,000 people mostly dressed in Indian traditional attire from Sacramento and neighboring cities attended the celebration. in the cultural program. Some groups presented an array of regional dances while others presented patriot scenes. Most of the participants were from 5 to 16 years.There were many booths selling merchandize like jewelry, clothing and murtis.The booths were doing brisk business, may be due to a heavy fall in gold prices and food booths attracted many with their North and South Indians fare. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks to the management and volunteers who put in a lot of hard work in making the celebration a big success.
