
LOS ANGELES,CA -GOPIO-LA Chapter in association with Park and Recreation Services of California organized a Beach Cleaning at Bolsa Chica Beach in Huntington Beach. Dr. Asmath Noor, secretary of GOPIO-LA coordinated the drive with beach authorities. Many GOPIO-LA officers and members volunteered. A California Parks and Recreation officer explained the dangers that items strewn at the beach by visitors pose to the environment.

Plastic bottles may take more than 450 years to decompose. Plastic, is the major cause of death and suffocation of marine mammals. Cigarette butts are the other big pollutant. Volunteers spent about two hours picking up the trash.The drive ended with a picnic on the beach GOPIO-LA Chapter in association with the Red Cross, the Rajput Association of America and Apna Punjabi Group organized a blood drive on June 17, at Sanatan Dharam Temple in Norwalk. A large member of donors volunteered to donate blood, but, unfortunately, many of them were turned away due to Red Cross imposed travel restrictions as they had visited India within the last 12 months. GOPIO-LA president Anju Garg and vice president Rajinder Dhunna initiated the blood drive.
