BUENA PARK, CA – Hundreds of devout on the evening of April 11, had one destination – the Jain Cultural Center. Community members flocked to attend the all night vishal jagran organized by the Vishwa Shanti Sewa Charitable Mission founded by Maharaj Devkinandan. The jagran sought to focus...
on the promotion of world peace. It began with puja by Jyoti Prachand to the Universal Mother with various Mata Rani jakaras.
At about 10pm, the renowned devotional singer Narinder Chanchal was introduced to the crown by Dr.Tarsem Singhal. The excited congregation which packed the hall to capacity, gave him a warm welcome, with a standing ovation and the playing of drums.
After this it was a non-stop musical ride for more than three hours with people spontaneously dancing and singing along.
Chanchal sang, ‘Tune mujhe bulaya’, ‘Chalo bulava aya hai’, ‘Guthli khol datiye’, ‘Dil wali palaki’, ‘Mera kise na puchya haal maa’, and various other devotionals which sent those in attendance into ecstasy. Little girls or kanjaks and other ladies who danced were given small gift items by him. After a break at 1.45 am for snacks, tea and hot milk, the event resumed at 2.30am.
Sponsors and various volunteers were recognized with plaques by Narinder Chanchal. Kamal of Ambala Sweets and Spices in Anaheim donated prasad for the over 600 people who were at the jagran. The main stage decorations were done by Amit Anand of SYNX Corporation. Dr.Singhal told India Journal that without the support of sponsors, donors, volunteers and the whole hearted participation by the crowd, the event would not have been the success it was.
The event concluded with the traditional narration of Tara Rani kaha by Mahantji, without which no jagran is complete. The final arati and puja was done at 4 am with joyous devotees.
