in need in local communities The award was received by the founder Ajay Bhutoria. Raj Bhutoria and Young Leaders forum associate director Ishika Gill , members and volunteers of the organization were present at the event.
Ajay Bhutoria has also received the Life Time Presidential Gold Medal award for community service from President Barack Obama.
Six years back when Bhutoria saw homeless people on the streets in San Jose downtown, he wanted to help and make their lives better. With this thought he came back on Sunday with home cooked meals to feed around 30 people. He promised to come back the following Sunday. Since than six years have passed and the Bhutoria have been coming every Sunday and many Saturdays, rain or shine to serve hot meals to over 300 people .
People wait in line not just for food but also to talk to Bhutoria and his team who make them feel good and respected them a sense of belonging to the Silicon Valley community.
They have served over 72,500 meals in the last six years. They also provide them with daily necessities like toothpaste, slippers, shaving cream, women items, medicines, umbrellas, raincoats etc.
