NORWALK, CA -Asian Indian Senior Association – (AISA) hosted a musical event ‘ Swarabhishek’, at the Sanatan Dharma temple here on Dec 13 with close to 650 music lovers in attendance. AISA Director Jay Shah welcomed all and said it was a great privilege for AISA to host this musical evening and entertain its members
and guests. He also thanked the sponsors and board members for their support throughout the last few years. Naresh Patel will be the new president of AISA for the next two years. Previous president of AISA Meena Patel introduced the new board of directors and wished them all success in the coming years. The lead performer of the evening was Neal Kumar who aptly began with a rendition of ‘Vakratunda Mahakaya Ganesh’ Mantra. Neal Kumar received his vocal training by his father Ramesh Kumar. Neal Kumar, a very versatile singer, has been performing all over the U.S and Canada. He was accompanied by his father Ramesh Kumar, well known tabla player and prominent female vocalist Pratibha Gunjal. Both presented evergreen songs fromf Indian Films, old and new like ‘Duniya ke Rakhwale,‘Lag ja gale se,’ ‘Ye sama hai yeh pyaar ka’ and many more. He also performed “Aaj Gawat Man Mero Jhoomke” a core classical song from the film ‘Baiju Bawra.’ The musical Journey took the audience through classical, semi classical, ghazals and popular music from yester years to today. The orchestra included Mike Dwier on Tanpoora, Hari Bhatt on Drums, Gopal Shroff on Dhol, Rupesh Kotecha on Santoor, Sheela Bhringi on Flute and Jagdish Purohit on Side Rhythm.
