Indian American Community of SoCal came together with Indian American Republicans of California, Lions Club of Little India & GOPIO-OC to bid adieu to Kumar and his humble association with the community residents at Tandoor Restaurant here.
After the welcome address by FISCS Chairman Dilip Butani, the team’s introduction by President Amrit Bhandari and singing of the National Anthems by attendees, Dr Krishna Reddy, Dr Janak Chopra and Gurjeet Singh detailed Kumar’s personal sacrifices and professional achievements to the audience of about 150 guests. They mentioned about his long list of dealings, accomplishments and friendly moments. Kumar’s other well-wishers also spoke about their dear friend in a series of addresses. Long-time friend and Congressman Ed Royce happily commented that he is finally glad Kumar is moving to Washington as it is time to strengthen their close partnership politically. He said, “KV has dedicated his life to the cause of Indian-Americans. He is a businessman, advocate, politician all in one, and travelled all his life around the world with only one thought in mind- How to work for the betterment of India. It is nice to know him as a friend and well-wisher of the Republican party.”
Consul K Venkata Ramana, Community Affairs, who came from San Francisco to attend the event, said that he is proud of Kumar and confident that under his strong influence Indo-American ties will only improve. Ali S. Taj, Mayor of Artesia, expression was no different. Taj called him a responsible person, who always makes a difference wherever he goes and honored Kumar with a certificate for his commendable work.
Adding to his comments was GOPIO Chairman Inder Singh who wished Kumar, his dear friend, best of luck for upcoming endeavors and shared a memory or two. Cerritos Mayor Pro Tem Naresh Solanki and Former Cypress Mayor Dr Prakash Narain also called Kumar a proud Indian-American. Chino Hills Mayor and Vice Mayor Ray Marquez and Peter Rogers respectively claimed that Kumar had a heart of gold and thanked him for bringing community events to the region.
Thanking all, KV Kumar on an emotional note said, “My eight years in California are one of the best days in my life where I have been able to make so many memories and do several important works.”
He also made a special mention of lending a hand to the US Congress in passing of the TBI Act- Traumatic Brain Injury Act.
Talking about his upcoming role, he significantly pointed out, “Under Trump, the Indo-US relationship will fare better than it has been under any other American president. I am confident that Trump will establish a good relationship with India thus in turn helping both the countries to benefit from each other in return.”
Some of the other important guests who attended the event were, Dr Harvinder Sahota, Kewal Kanda, G J Zala, Kanaksinh Zala, Govind Vagasia, Ashok Patnaik, Anantha Ramachandran and Anshuman Sinha. The executive team besides Dilip Butani and Amrit Bhandari includes Mohan Sharma, Raj Walia, Ajay Khetani, Smita Das, Dr Sinduri, Aparna Hande, Sailesh Shah, Ramesh Bhatt, Prakash Pancholi and Siddharth Pathak. The guests enjoyed cocktails and a scrumptious dinner.
