SAN DIEGO, CA - CRY, Child Rights & You America [CRY America], that works towards ensuring underprivileged children their basic rights, hosted their first Annual Gala Dinner here on May 6 at the Marriott La Jolla and the second CRY Dinner in the SF Bay Area on May 5 at the Crowne Plaza in San Jose.
SAN DIEGO, CA - CRY, Child Rights & You America [CRY America], that works towards ensuring underprivileged children their basic rights, hosted their first Annual Gala Dinner here on May 6 at the Marriott La Jolla and the second CRY Dinner in the SF Bay Area on May 5 at the Crowne Plaza in San Jose.
Speakers included Bollywood actor Abhay Deol who appealed to the guests to support the cause of underprivileged children with a sense of urgency; local businessman Fred Nasseri; Shefali Sunderlal, President of CRY America who spoke about the work of CRY and supported Projects; and Dr. Rolee Singh, Director of Dr. Shambhunath Singh Research Foundation who came all the way from Varanasi to share her work on issues of child marriage and child trafficking.
The gala in San Diego was attended by prominent guests from the Greater San Diego, Apple Valley and Orange County areas.
Apart from raising awareness for the cause, the evening included a sumptuous dinner, cocktails, stand-up comedy, auctions, entertainment, music and dancing. Odissi dancer Rajesh Kumar Palai and Laboni Patnaik and vocalist Saili Oak left the audience mesmerized. The emcee for the evening was Neil Chakravarthy and DJ was Anil Verma.
Auction items generously donated by Indian artists Murali Nagapuzha, Prakash Deshmukh, Suresh Gulage, Deepa Hekre, Dinkar Jadhav were featured, along with fashion ensembles by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, Deepali Shah, Tarun Tahiliani, Payal Singhal and Ahalya. Cricket bats signed by Saurav Ganguly and Virendra Sehwag were also showcased.
Sunderlal said, “You are an integral part of CRY and your support allows us to ensure that thousands of children are able to go to sleep educated, healthy and protected.” She appealed to people to join CRY America as donors and volunteers.
