India-US share a rich history of energy sector cooperation going back to the 1950s. Since the inception of India-US partnership to advance clean energy (PACE), seven US agencies working on PACE initiatives have mobilized about $2.38 billion in public and private resources for clean energy projects in India.
She said that the US is also keen in partnership regarding development of smart grid management to meet power crisis in India.
On Aug 20, Stephens had met chief minister Anandiben Patel on a mission to thaw a relationship with Patel’s mentor Modi, which had been frozen since 2005. She had said that the US president made the call even before Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister which set the tone for future engagement between the US and Modi. Later, she had found herself captivated by the beauty of Sarkhej Roza where she was on a 45-minute tour. “Want to see more women engineers,” Stephens said adding women should not hesitate from taking up engineering as they are born engineers and can do wonders in this field.
“When I see people pursuing engineering and humanities, I see hope for the future. To engineer is human... Wish I were an engineer but I didn’t have the capability,” she told students of School of Petroleum Management.
