HYDERABAD - Over 1,030 million rupees of unaccounted cash and 70 kilo gram of gold and 300 kilo gram of silver, being transported without any valid document, have been seized in Andhra Pradesh. Besides cash and gold, a total of 3,76,830 litres of illicit liquor was also seized in a series of raids carried out across the state in the wake of the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct for the Legislative assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
According to State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bhanwarlal, the total unaccounted cash seized in the whole country has been 2,650 million, of which 1,034 million was seized in Andhra Pradesh alone. The Election Commission has already identified the southern state as being expenditure-sensitive. Simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly would be held in undivided AP on April 30 in Telangana and on May 7 in Seemandhra. (PTI)
