IRVINE, CA – Friends of Vshwa Hindu Parishad of America gathered on Sept.25, at the Turtle Rock Community Center here, to watch the dance drama ‘Krishnapriya’ depicting the divine love for Lord Krishna, as explained in the scriptures, by Yashodha, Radha and his devotees Draupadi and Meerabai.
IRVINE, CA – Friends of Vshwa Hindu Parishad of America gathered on Sept.25, at the Turtle Rock Community Center here, to watch the dance drama ‘Krishnapriya’ depicting the divine love for Lord Krishna, as explained in the scriptures, by Yashodha, Radha and his devotees Draupadi and Meerabai.
The audience was mesmerized for two hours by the melodious music, colorful costumes with dazzling jewelry and outstanding dance performance by the artists from India. Aditi Bhagwat, Sushant Jadhadhav and Harshada Jambekar displayed their exceptional talent, portraying each character with perfection. The rhythmic chanting of the ‘Madhurashtakam’ in the end struck a devotional cord of every person present in the audience. The dinner and dance concert was organized to raise funds for Support A Child, a non profit that was begun by VHPA 25 years ago to educate and raise destitute children in India in a supervised environment. With the help of VHP India, the group has identified hostels run by well known organizations where it can place children. Through the course of the evening, over $7,000 was raised and organizers said it would help support 25 children.
Earlier, the program with a Bhav Geet by Sheela Kene and was followed by a brief account of initiatives undertaken by VHPA. A short video featuring the children who had been helped touched the hearts of many when they heard the aspirations and hopes of the young ones. A couple who had visited the hostels also gave a detailed description of student life there.
SAC said that a donation of $250 per year can provide shelter,food, education and healthcare to a child. Donors receive an annual report card and picture of the child they have helped support. More info and contacts available at: www.sacusa.org
