famous creations for an event hosted by Rohini Bedi in her flagship store here. The event was also graced by Artesia Mayor Ali Sajjad Taj who said that Rohini’s fashion creations are really beautiful. “I am extremely happy to have Tarun Tahiliani and Queenie Singh in my city. Their designs are perfect and exquisite.”
On April 28, a horde of guests gathered in the afternoon at the store , met Tahiliani and shopped his collection. Some of them even booked their bridal and couture appointments with the designer.
Thanking his guests, Tahiliani stated, “I am presenting my Spring Summer Collection 2017 at Rohini’s. My brand is steeped in the Indian traditions of draped form and the techniques that millions of Indian craftspeople imbibe with love. The silhouettes combine western notions of cut, construct and finish but using Indian heritage and craftsmanship.”
Talking about his talented pursuits, he added, “My creativity comes when I travel, marvel at art, architecture, interiors, history, Maharaja’s! My inspiration comes from many things.”
Tahiliani is the master of couture, diffusion, prêt-a-porte and accessory lines, which are Indian in their sensibility, yet international in their appeal. His designs at the store showcased the rich heritage of the subcontinent reinvented as contemporary high fashion through the genius of Indian craftsmanship and the finest textiles, along with Italian pattern cutting, construction and new technologies such as digital textile printing. Some of the designs also presented his unique combination of historical opulence and contemporary chic transcending to couture.
Also, showcasing her exclusive handcrafted collection at the store was Queenie Singh of ‘Jewels by Queenie’. Looking gorgeous in a light orange chiffon sequined saree and bejeweled in style with chunky earrings and a diamond cuff, Queenie said, “My jewellery is for everybody; many brands inspire me, but what is close to my heart is women of my family and their grooming. A lot of my inspiration comes from old style family jewelery that my mother and nani (maternal grandmother) used to wear.”
No doubt, the entire jewel collection was an extension of her personality- bold, defining and glamorous. Every piece highlighted the jewel intelligently more than the outfit. As she said, “Glamour, high quality and uniqueness are embodied in each piece of my jewelry. ” An acclaimed jewelry designer and a style icon, Queenie is a former Miss India. Her work has adorned the likes of Hillary Clinton, Kim Kardashian, the Queen of Morocco, Paris Hilton, Naomi Campbell as well as Bollywood stars such as Kangana Ranaut, Katrina Kaif and Shilpa Shetty. Meanwhile, the store owner, Rohini Bedi, stood out in an Indie-Boho-Chic green, gold and black outfit that was teamed with jewels from Queenie.
Smiling she said, “I am feeling extremely fabulous. I like to take fashion beyond the concept of `regular.’ My store houses the latest collections from a hand-selected mix of established and upcoming designers. The entire store has been transformed into a TT store and will stay like that for the next month. So whoever missed it can still come in and see the exquisite collection.”
There was also an arrangement of lunch, drinks and the widely popular ‘golgappas’ outside the store for the guests.
